What people are saying about Betzavta

Betzavta

"Sharing a meal with Niv was an exciting cultural exchange. It was through this experience that I realized how food can create connections and bonds between people from many different cultures. At the begining, conversation was largely about food, but gradually we started sharing our experiences and stories, allowing a friendship to form much quicker than I originally expected. Would say that as I walked out the door that night, I knew I had made a friend in Israel, thanks to our hosts hospitality, openness, friendliness and excellent cooking skills."

SELENE from Switzerland

"What an amazing evening, one of our best in Israel! Not only our host was very warm and welcoming, they prepared a delicious dinner full of traditional dishes. Every minute was filled with laughter and joy, we have truly made new lifelong friends! Thank you Betzavta for this wonderful experience, this was the highlight of our trip and we would recommend it to anyone traveling to Israel."

ALEX from Russia

Betzavta

"We had such a wonderful and unique dining experience thru Betzavta. We were warmly welcomed by Maayan the second we arrived. The food is really fresh and tasty. We got to exchange personal stories and discuss many other interesting topics. What can be a better way to explore the local culture than meeting and eating with the locals while you are traveling? Betzavta is a great initiative that helps travelers mingle with friendly locals and create real connections beyond sightseeing. If you are seeking real Israeli experience, definitely don't miss Betzavta."

Some more information

Who can participate?

We welcome all travelers who want to meet locals and enjoy the unique experience of an Israeli dinner. Travelers under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Who are the hosts?

Our hosts are individuals and families who would like to share their love for cooking and meet new friends from all over the world. They do this on a voluntarily basis and the payment they receive is just enough to cover the cost of the ingredients.
All hosts speak English.

What is the recommended day of the week to book a dinner?

FRIDAY! You can book a dinner on every day of the week, but since most Israelis do not work on Friday and Saturday, this will increase the chances we will be able to find an available host for you.

I will arrive in Israel only in few weeks/months, when should I book?

Book now so you won't forget later. Since your host are individuals who host for fun, it will be difficult to ask them about their availability too early. We will start searching for your host a month prior to your requested dates. Don't worry, we won't forget you, as we are tracking every guest arrival date.

What is the price?

The price per adult (above the age of 12) is $39.00 USD. The price per child (4-12) is $20.00 USD. Children under the age of 4 are free.
This fixed price is used for covering ingredient costs and the operation costs that enable this initiative to keep running. Our goal is to create friendships, not a revenue-generating business. This is why we will always strive to keep the prices as low as we can.

What will I eat?

Betzavta is all about home cooking and a true local experience. Our hosts do their best to prepare a delicious meal that represents their traditional cuisine and origins. They would love to share their knowledge of Israeli food and culture, so don't be shy and ask them any questions you may have.
If you have dietary restrictions, you will be able to contact your host directly and supply this information in advance.
